Abstract

One example of the innovation in building construction that is expansively used at present is Glassfiber Reinforced Cement (GRC). GRC is a cement product based on material mixed with fiberglass. GRC is one of the developments of concrete. This product easily and efficiently provides solutions to a variety of building designs. Additionally, its various forms can be applied to numerous types and functions of buildings. This research aimed to identify the suitability of GRC for several functions. The methods in this study employed a type of qualitative research, with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation in several examples of buildings that applied the GRC material innovation. Data analysis was obtained from observation related to GRC types, sizes, installation techniques, and functions in the building. Results showed that the GRC had various types, shapes, and sizes. It could be applied to the building exterior or interior. Each building used different GRC specifications tailored to meet needs and design of the building. GRC installation techniques could use the frame or without frames, adapted to the needs and types of GRC used

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Waisai district in terms of spatial aspects, as an attempt to respond to tourism potential in Raja Ampat with descriptive qualitative methods using a built and architectural environment design approach responding to natural potential. The study successfully concluded that the Waisai District lacked tourism magnets that could attract tourists and support the Raja Ampat tourism sector, and recommended the revitalization of the tourism potential of Waisai city, such as beaches, pedestrian ways, and city parks, hence Raja Ampat can be known for not only its magnificent sea, but also the Waisai’s central business district (CBD).

Abstract

Flats are one of the government's solution to provide decent housing for low-income people. However, as mostly flats overlook energy efficiency aspects, residents must pay high rental and operational costs. Therefore, this paper aims to study the principles of green buildings, especially in the building envelope that can bear the operating costs of flats with the case study on the A-B-C Tower of Tambora Flats. The A-B-C Tower of Tambora Flats is one of the flats building in Jakarta that has rental cost issues. This study employed the EDGE application that provided energy saving values in the application of green building principles, such as building mass and orientation, wall and roof finishing materials, natural shading and ventilation elements. From these values, it was only the application of green building principles that was significant for the Tambora flats. The results of this study revealed that the optimization of natural ventilation for flats was still important and having a significant impact on energy savings

Abstract

This study aims to explore the typology of additional facilities at Tambak Lorok dock in Semarang, Indonesia. The revitalized dock is in an appropriate condition with permanent materials and additional facilities that naturally added by user. These facilities are intended as spaces to support fishing activities. This study employed a qualitative paradigm by collecting primary data in the form of interviews with related actors and physical data in the field. The results of this study revealed two categories of additional space properties, namely static and dynamic. The static additional space has a laying pattern at the edge of the dock bordering the settlement or the sea, whereas the dynamic additional space has a laying pattern at the center of the dock

Abstract

Many industrial buildings are growing in Indonesia, one of them being the fishing industry. However, the industry has a monotonous and rigid facade. The facade is an essential element that makes the first impression. This study aims to evaluate how the facade of an ideal industrial building, especially in the fishing industry. The method used is descriptive qualitative on the several parameters of façade design. The results of the study are in the form of an evaluation and guidelines of the ideal facade, in terms of visuals, functions, and the requirements.

Abstract

The lack of open space due to land competition in the area which ultimately causes a lack of gathering activities for the community, so that with the movement of people who originally gathered in open spaces are now starting to move or turn into modern malls. This certainly encourages the development of malls that can be integrated with public open spaces as a gathering place for the community. There are several malls that have been tried to be integrated into malls with the concept of public open space, including The Park Mall Solo, Kelapa Gading Mall in Jakarta and Cihampelas Walk in Bandung. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of circulation patterns that can affect or form open spaces for malls. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. The analysis was carried out by analyzing and comparing the circulation patterns of the three malls in combining malls with open spaces. The results of this study indicate that the circulation pattern uses covert retail which is arranged in a linear manner, so that visitors can pass through a retail space that has a semi-open circulation form.
